Casell – Bergen Gallery

Margarita “darling” Bergen.

Margarita is a New Orleans socialite and long-time French Quarter resident. Margarita was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to Crescent City in the seventies after living in New York. She started her story at Casell Gallery in the eighties. If you haven’t met Margarita Bergen, you probably haven’t been to a New Orleans party in the past 30 years.

Joaquim Casell

JOACHIM CASELL was born in Gerona, Spain, on August 1, 1927; he studied art in Paris, then moved to New York, where he started his career as an art restorer. Mr. Casell is considered one of the renowned living artists of the South of the United States.
Joaquim Casell became a master of Oil Pastels in the Impressionism and Expressionism styles.

Joaquim founded Casell Gallery in the sixties and painted most of his work in New Orleans.
Cassell´s works have brilliant colors, and his unique point of view of the world is full of passion.
Mr. Casell is listed in Who’s Who in American Art and Barron’s Who’s Who in Interior Design, International Edition. In the ’70s, he got the title “The Monet of America.”
